Anthony "AJ" Emerson

March 7, 1975 – August 16, 2025

Anthony "AJ" Emerson, 50, of Albion, passed away August 16, 2025, in a motorcycle accident in Albion, Washington.

AJ was born March 7, 1975, in Pullman, Washington, to Jim and Kathy (Johnson) Emerson.   From a young age, he developed a love for the outdoors including a passion for hunting, fishing, camping, boating and motorcycles.  He has always been drawn to the power and beauty of nature; AJ had a natural talent for working with his hands—demonstrated by his career in all things construction and reflected by his strong work ethic and mechanical and heavy equipment operation skills.

AJ married Tosha (Gayman), and together they welcomed two children, Hailee (26) and Mason (22).

Though the marriage later ended, his love for his children never wavered. He was a father, son, brother, and friend who will be remembered for his kind and generous heart.  A heart that was bigger than his struggles.

He is survived by his children, Hailee Emerson of Arizona and Mason Emerson of Pullman; his parents, Jim and Kathy Emerson of Pullman; his sister, Kim Keifer of Pullman; and his brother, Jim Emerson of Alaska. He is also survived by many extended family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Ann Emerson, and Marion and Oscar Johnson.

AJ will be interred in the Albion Cemetery in the Emerson family plot later in the spring, when all of the family can gather and the lilacs bloom.  A portion of his ashes will be spread in two of his favorite places— Mile Marker 18 on the Snake River and Boggan's Oasis on the Grand Ronde River—to forever be part of the landscapes.
