Obituary

ALICE ELIZABETH (LAUTENSCHLAGER) HANSEN, 93, of Pullman and formerly of Colfax and Endicott
passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at the Arcadia Adult Family Home in Pullman, WA. A graveside
service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at 10:30 AM at the Endicott Cemetery. Our beloved
aunt was born near Endicott on Jan. 18, 1919 to Philip G. & Katherine (Bafus) Lautenschlager. She grew
up on a farm near Thera, WA and attended the White School, the Litzenberger School, and Endicott High School, graduating in 1937. She worked at Fonks Variety Store for nine months then the Colfax Telephone Office, as an operator. Alice met Ray E. Hansen and the couple was married on Oct. 16, 1947. They moved to Inglewood, CA and made southern California their home until 1961. Following his retirement, Alice & Ray traveled throughout the U.S. in their 31-foot travel trailer. In the 1970's they made their home in Endicott. Later, Alice and Ray divorced. Alice then moved to Colfax where she, again, worked at Fonks for eight years. She moved to Pullman in 2006 into Glenhaven Adult Family Living. Alice loved to bake, especially cookies and breads for her family and friends. She kept up with current events by watching and discussing politics. Alice also enjoyed spending time with her family taking walks, reading stories, and teaching her nieces and nephews how to play Rummy. Alice is survived by her sister-in-law, Renata Lautenschlager; nephews Carl (Jodi) Lautenschlager, Scott Lautenschlager, Warren Schubothe, and Don Schubothe; her nieces Terri (Vince) Bator, Loretta (Keith) Paulson, and Carol (Ron) Newton; along with her many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Elmer Lautenschlager; and sister, Helen Schubothe. Memorial donations are suggested to the St. John-Endicott School Dist. Foundation or to a favorite charity. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax is caring for the family. Online condolences may be sent to www.bruningfuneralhome.com.
