ALTONA OLIVIA WIGEN, 96, a longtime Dusty, WA resident, passed away on May 11, 2013 at the Terre View Adult Family Home in Pullman, WA. The funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Selbu Lutheran Church near LaCrosse. Burial will follow at the Selbu Cemetery. Viewing will be at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax on Thursday from 10 AM to 4 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Altona was born Aug. 6, 1916 in Kootenai, ID to Anton & Christine (Vasli) Haugness. She grew up in Kootenai and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1934. Altona married Gilfred Wigen in Sandpoint on Oct. 24, 1942. The couple moved to Whitman County and made their home in Dusty, WA. She loved to garden and do needle work. Altona's hands were never idle. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake. She also liked to write letters to family in Norway and she enjoyed listening to baseball. Altona had a very strong faith in God. She was a member of the Selbu Church and spent many years teaching Sunday school and participating in the different women's groups of the church. She is survived by her daughter Linda Hennigar of LaCrosse; a sister Dagmar Kirking (Marv) of Sandpoint, ID; her granddaughter Tami Banks (Jay) of Kennewick; her great grandson Wesley Banks & many nieces & nephews. Altona was preceded in death by her husband Gilfred in 1999; an infant daughter Judith; brother Haaken Haugness & sisters Olga Furset, Gertie Camyn, Alma Norby, Rachel Stueckle & Hazel Jensen.
