On Friday, July 4th 2014, Andrew Szasz Jr., 88, of Rosalia, Washington went home to the Good Lord and to be reunited with his "sweetheart", Ida Mae Szasz.
Andrew was born March 12th, 1926 to immigrant parents and was profoundly patriotic having survived imprisonment in a Nazi concentration camp and having served honorable in the United States Air Force. He held multiple jobs simultaneously in order to provide for his family. Even after retirement, he spent long days and nights driving grain truck. Andrew was known for his good works and was a well-known woodworker. Andrew was an active member of the LDS church and held steadfast in his faith sharing the gospel with family, friends and neighbors alike.
Andrew is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ida Mae Szasz (1997) and is survived by his five daughters, Debbie Szasz, T. Sue Flores, Betty Chapple, Kathy Fabian and Kelly Matkovich and his twenty-three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Friday July 11, 2014 at the LDS Church on Almota Road in Colfax. Viewing will be one hour prior to the funeral in the Relief Society Room. Burial with military honors will follow at the St. John Cemetery.
