Andy Jerome Morehouse came to rest with God on a peaceful sunny Sunday afternoon in Potlatch, Idaho, October 6, 2024.  He is now free of the pain cancer had dealt him.  Andy was born to Dan and Linda Morehouse in Carlsbad, NM on December 10, 1980. As a boy and young man he enjoyed times of camping and boating at the lake, exploring the desert near his home, and later 4-wheeling in his old Bronco.  He was always inquisitive, exploring new places, listening, learning, and experiencing with those around him.

He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1999, after which he took a job working on cell phone towers where he traveled, lived, and worked in 46 states plus Mexico, ending with a life-changing encounter with Jesus at the Montana Wilderness School of the Bible.

Andy fell in love and married Melanie Glassman and married in 2006, together they have four children. He worked several different occupations through the years and he enjoyed parts of all of them, but his favorite was building houses, including the one built to be their home. He was delighted to stay in the Northwest with Melanie (and her family) and truly made it his home. Andy loved adventure and exploring, seeing the magic and wonder everywhere he went. He loved sharing that wonder, from hiking a mountain, swimming in the ocean to seeing Tom Sawyer's Island at Disneyland.

Andy was an avid reader, liking science fiction as a kid and theology as an adult. His favorite pastimes were being with his loved ones, especially his kids, as well as working on sermons and preaching for church. He touched the lives of many people through his well thought out and heartfelt words. He was friendly and loved conversation, having had many wonderful discussions with those around him, even strangers. He loved the Lord with all his heart and he was passionate about the people around him. He wanted everyone to know the God that changed his life.

Andy was diagnosed with Sarcoma in 2018 and battled to stay with his family these past 6 years. It was his desire to not be defined by his illness but by his faith in God.  He succeeded.

Andy is survived by his wife Melanie and their four precious children Madelyn, Milo, Bella, and Hugo, his parents Dan and Linda, his sisters Gina Hartwick and Misty Roberson (husband Zach) and multitude of nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A memorial service will be held for Andy at the Viola Community Center, October 18th, at 3:00 pm.  In lieu of an open microphone at the memorial, we will have a place for guests to tell their memories and stories, which we would love to hear.
