She was the middle child of 5 and grew up with two older sisters, a younger brother and younger sister. Growing up in a large family, Angela loved learning to bake with her mom, canning, and fair time. They lived on a small farm and she was a member of 4H and Future Homemakers of America. Angela graduated from Grandview High School in 1980. She enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and attended basic training at Cape May, New Jersey. She was stationed in Yorktown, Virginia where she met her future husband, Jeff Monyak, who was also stationed there. The couple became engaged just nine days after meeting and were married on March 21, 1982 in Grandview. They were not only quick friends but were best friends their entire time together. After being honorably discharged from the Coast Guard, Angela kept very busy as a homemaker, wife and mother. They lived in various places in Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Maine and the Oregon Coast as their lives followed Jeff's career in the Coast Guard. He worked as a bosun's mate and spent many years as part of the Search and Rescue team along the Oregon Coast. They moved to Dayton in 2002 when he retired. Angela worked as a dietary aid at the Dayton General Hospital for 12 years and more recently worked in the Dayton School District as well. Jeff and Angela loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Alaska and Mexico where she loved to go fishing with him. She loved baking and is very well known for her "World Famous" pear pie recipe that is still served in a restaurant in Coos Bay. Quilting and sewing were also favorite pastimes of hers. She is survived by her husband Jeff at their Dayton home; their 2 children, Jonathon (Aubrey) Monyak of Walla Walla and Jacqueline Monyak of Dayton; 2 grandchildren Rayanna and Landon; her sisters, Debbie Bower of Arkansas, Cynthia (Randy) Drake, Tacoma, and Tricia Cummins of Dallas, Oregon; and her brother, Kenneth (Janie) Speaks of Federal Way.
