Obituary

Ashton Leishman, LaCrosse High School student, died suddenly on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at his home in LaCrosse. He was 16. A gathering for family and friends will be Friday, September 19th, beginning at 3:00 in the chapel of Corbeill Funeral Home in Colfax. Final resting place will be in the Colfax Cemetery.

Ashton Warren Leishman was born February 23, 2009 in Logan, Utah to Jason Leishman and Melanie Byrne. His early years were spent in Utah and Georgia before moving to LaCrosse in 2020 to be with his dad. Ashton was a member of FFA in high school and was on the CCM (debate) team where he excelled. He was a great debater. He worked harvest this year for PNW at their Central Ferry warehouse. Several of his family work for PNW and Ashton was proud to continue that tradition.

He was a talented artist and loved to draw. He could also create, mold and build almost anything out of clay. His figurine work was amazing. He had a very creative mind and he also loved to play video games. Family dinners or movie nights with his family were favorites as was time spent playing with the dogs. Ashton was well loved by his many cousins and they enjoyed hanging out together. Ashton possessed a spirit larger than life. His infectious laughter and kind heart touched everyone he met. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, always asking about their day and sharing his own with boundless enthusiasm. His intelligence was exceptional, his knowledge spanning diverse areas that often surprised those around him. He was a truly gifted artist, and his creativity extended to many aspects of his life. Beyond his artistic talents, Ashton's unwavering kindness and generosity were his defining traits; he gave freely and expected little in return. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his father and step-mother; Jason and Jammie Leishman at their home in LaCrosse; his mother, Melanie Capp of Ogden, Utah; his step-father, Damien Capp in Georgia; his three brothers, Tristan Harte, Christian Carr, and River Capp all living in Utah; paternal grandfather Randy Leishman in Utah; maternal grandparents Ann and Curtis Leroy in Arizona and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Sharon Leishman, maternal grandfather Gregory Byrne, great-grandfather Joe Cortez and by an uncle Ryan Leishman.

Ashton's family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support that has been felt and received by so many. Thank you to everyone. On-line guest book is at www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com
