IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara
Bailey
June 17, 1931 – March 1, 2025
Barbara June Bailey, lifelong St. John area resident, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax. She was 93. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 7th, at 11:00 AM in the St. John Cemetery.
Barbara was born June 17, 1931 at Thornton, Washington to Gaines and Bertha Mason Dollarhide. Her early years were in Thornton and then the family moved to Sunset where she grew up along with her two sisters. Her father worked for area farmers. Barbara graduated from the St. John High School in 1949. Barbara married Floyd George Bailey on September 16, 1949. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and Barbara kept their home until his return and honorable discharge in 1954.
Barbara and Floyd spent their life farming and cattle ranching; and of course, she was busy as a homemaker and mother as well. She was a very spiritual person and often spoke of her strong faith. She was a member of the Ewan Church of the Nazarene for many years. She enjoyed the Ewan Neighbors Club and was very active in its membership. She always participated in the quilt they made each year to be raffled at the St. John Stock Show. Barbara was very talented and artistic in her embroidery skills; she was an avid reader and often visited with family and friends about her latest read. She was a wonderful cook; but most of all she loved spending time with family and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of all of them.
She is survived by her daughter; Gail Sherodd and her husband Alden of Greenacres, WA and by her son Mike and his wife Willy Bailey of St. John; by 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Marilyn Steele of Colfax. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Floyd in 2009 and by her sister, Evelyn Patterson. The family suggests memorial gifts in her memory be to the St. John Global Methodist Church or to the St. John Fire Department. On-line guest book is at www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com
