Benjamin Patrick Tibbetts, 26, of Spokane, died in an accident while driving an ATV near Rosalia, Washington on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Benjamin loved living life to its fullest and he was doing something he passionately loved when he died. He was exploring the rolling hills of the Palouse with his girlfriend Vanessa by his side; his best friend "Buddy" the beagle standing watch in the distance. Benjamin loved spending time like this and he often got caught up in the old homesteads of the area or exploring an abandoned ghost town. He was the youngest of three children born to Rob and Tina Tibbetts. Benjamin joined his older brother Nick, who was 9 years older, and an older sister, Kassi, by 7 years, when he was born on April 22, 1990, in Sunnyside, Oregon. The family lived in Vancouver, WA. until Ben was only 9 months old and they moved to Spokane. A sensitive, sweet, loving and caring little boy, Ben grew up in Spokane and attended elementary school at Audubon Elementary. During his high school years at Shadle High, his musical talents began to flourish and Ben played the drums in a band, Empty Eyes as well as Hard Time, Ritual Hate, Losing Skin, etc.. He was a very talented drummer and met many friends along the way. At the time of his death, Ben had been in bands for over ten years with his very best friend Jack Patten; the two were like brothers to each other. His other best friend, Dan El-Ayache, who spent a few years living with the Tibbetts family, Ben considered his brother, being a "fun" uncle to his young children. Ben was very nostalgic when it came to things he loved; from his 1970's era VW Bus that he drove, to his collection of bikes, or his record collection. His favorite band of all time was Judas Priest and his love for heavy metal rock music ran deep in his blood. He was a collector of sorts and had a huge collection of records and some of his favorite bikes to collect were the older, stingray, muscle type bikes. Even with all of the things that he loved; he most prized his family and friends. Ben dated a girl for a while; Katie; and he had the opportunity to participate in her baby boy's life for a little over a year and a half. Being a father figure to little Silas meant the world to Benjamin and they developed a quick bond and a lasting love and friendship. He loved his parents and his brother and sister and their families. At the time of his death, Benjamin was dating Vanessa and they enjoyed traveling together and spending time together. Ben was a bit of a wanderer and spent life enjoying the moment of wherever he was at the time. When he did work, he found joy in arranging flowers for Skyline Flowers in Spokane. He was interested in horticulture and very artistic with flowers. Ben will be forever loved and missed by his family; Rob and Tina Tibbetts; brother Nick and his wife Katherine; sister Kassi and her husband Chris Belshaw; his nephews, Leland Tibbetts and Hudson Belshaw and his niece, Olive Tibbetts all living in Spokane as well as numerous friends and extended family. A memorial gathering will be slated for later, please contact the Tibbetts Family for details.
