Bernyce Geneva Plowman Leinweber passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 in Colfax. She was 96. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 3rd, at 11:00 am at the LaCrosse United Methodist Church. Burial in the LaCrosse Cemetery will precede the service at 10:30. Bernyce was born January 11, 1919 at Pampa on the farm homesteaded by her Plowman grandfather. She was the oldest of six children of Charles and Ruth (Andrus) Plowman. Bernyce graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1936 and was married to Alfred "Chark" Leinweber December 10, 1936. They were high school sweethearts. They lived on the Leinweber ranch that they and their children own. It is being farmed by grandson Jeff Aune and his family today. Bernyce was a member of the LaCrosse United Methodist Church, an honorary member of the LaCrosse farm club, former WSU Cougar Club member, Washington Association of Wheat Growers, and the St. John Golf Club. Her first and foremost love was her home and family. Bernyce and Chark retired in 1995 and moved to the Hill-Ray Plaza in Colfax. Bernyce has resided at Nelson's Corner in Colfax for the last three years. She was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles. She is survived by her two children; Judith (Bud) Aune of Colfax and Dr. Michael (Betty) Leinweber of Pullman; 7 grandchildren and is "Granny" to 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; she is also survived by her sister Bev Dahmen living in Spokane. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years in 2005, her parents, a sister Carol, and 3 brothers, Larry, Noel, and Delbert Plowman. Brother Noel lost his life in World War II.
