Beryla L. Martin, 89, lifelong LaCrosse resident, passed away October 31, 2015 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax. Beryla was born August 12, 1926 in Spokane to Homer and Georgia (Pickard) Woodward. She grew up in LaCrosse and graduated from high school there in 1944. Her parents ran the insurance business in town and Beryla kept active in high school sports. She married Alfred Martin of LaCrosse on September 15, 1949. Beryla worked in the insurance business for several years as an office manager and she also was the clerk for Fire District #8 for 35 years. Her husband, Alfred, worked for the grain growers. Following retirement they enjoyed spending time in their motorhome and going fishing together. Beryla always loved to read books and work crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband, Alfred, at the LaCrosse home and by one daughter Marla Martin of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and by one sister, Joyce Mercer.
