Obituary

Betty Becker passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Aspen Park in Moscow, ID.    She was a lifelong resident of Uniontown, WA and Colton, WA.

Elizabeth Louise (Betty Lou) was born January 13, 1931 in Uniontown to Joe Wittman and Mary Tuschoff.  Betty graduated from St. Boniface Grade School and High School in Uniontown in 1949, and later graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1952.

Betty was the youngest of 10 children in her family and she spoke fondly of memories from growing up on the family farm south of Uniontown.  She lost her father at a young age, but she recalled the grit and determination of her mother to continue raising the family, traits she would learn and carry with her when she started her own family.

A chance meeting at a baseball game led to courtship, and Betty married Frank Becker Jr. on October 16, 1954 at St. Boniface Church in Uniontown.  They moved to the Becker family farm north of Colton.  There they would spend the next 38 years raising kids, crops and livestock.  In 1992, Frank and Betty moved to Colton to enjoy semi-retirement in the home that Betty herself designed.  Her husband Frank passed away in 2008.

Betty was an avid supporter of any sport or activity her kids and grandkids were involved in.  She attended countless games, concerts, plays, musicals, livestock shows and everything in between.  She also had a passion for her yard and landscaping, spending many happy hours pruning and clipping and weeding.  Betty also loved to entertain, hosting family Christmas and many other parties and gatherings.  She enjoyed cooking for others and Betty's home was always available as a place to meet or socialize, and often times a game or two of pinochle would be played.

Betty was a member of St. Boniface Parish and later St. Gall Parish.  As an active member of the St. Gall Altar Society, Betty served on various committees and caring for the altar flowers for many years.  She especially enjoyed singing in the church choir for Christmas, Easter and many other special occasions.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Betty was the last of her generation, preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Ed Wittman, Irene Kinzer, Alice Cena, Birdie (Bertha) Brenner, Stella Kinzer, Kiddo (Marie) Wolf, Robert Wittman, Hazel Kinzer and Dick Wittman.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Frank Becker, son Mike Becker, daughter-in-law Phyllis Becker, grandsons Joseph Becker, Jake Riedner and Frankie Becker and great-grandson Trey Meyer.

Betty is survived by Larry Becker (Karen Coates) of Spokane, Donna (Gary) Meyer of Spokane, Tom Becker of Colton, Teri (Gary) Riedner of Colton, Lori Becker of Colton, Connie (Wayne) Dearing of Kennewick and Brian (Marie) Becker of Colfax.  She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pullman Regional Hospital and especially the staff at Aspen Park of Cascadia for making Betty's last few days as comfortable as possible.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts in her memory be made to the Frank Jr. and Betty Becker Memorial Scholarship c/o Colton Education Foundation, the Colton/Uniontown EMT's, Guardian Angel-St. Boniface School or a charity of your choice.
