Obituary

Ellen Elizabeth "Betty" Luther, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, current resident of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and previous resident of LaCrosse, Washington, passed away January 17, 2016 at the age of 94. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29 in the chapel of Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Vault interment will follow at the LaCrosse Cemetery.

Betty was born December 14, 1921 in Endicott, Washington to Marshall Clyde and Maena Mae Moore. The family lived in Moscow, Idaho, until she was school age, when the family moved to LaCrosse, Washington. Betty attended elementary school at Rock Springs, Washington, and graduated from LaCrosse high school in 1939.

She met and married her husband Clyde Billings Luther on October 15, 1940 and they were together until Clyde's death in 2003. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage. They moved to LaCrosse in 1945 where they lived for 58 years. Betty served as treasurer for the town of LaCrosse, Washington, also managing the family-owned insurance business. She enjoyed genealogy which led her to publish a book of the genealogy of her and Clyde's families. She also enjoyed painting, music, crafts and crocheting, making hats for needy children in Idaho Falls. She loved to take her keyboard to nursing homes and play old familiar songs for the residents. Betty and her husband Clyde traveled extensively from the desert southwest to Alaska. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were a particular joy and she enjoyed watching or participating in their activities whenever possible. She dearly loved, and was loved by her family.

She is survived by her brother Keith Moore (Carmen) of Vancouver, Washington; daughter, Nancy Copp (Robert) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son Randy Luther (Judy) of Spokane, Washington; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Maena Moore; husband Clyde Luther; brother George Moore and sister Laura Moore.

Memorial contributions in Betty's honor are suggested to a charity of choice. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
