Betty E. Musick

March 21, 1947 – February 11, 2025

Betty Ella Musick passed away on February 11, 2025, at Bishop Place in Pullman, Washington. Betty was born on March 21,1947 in Nashville, Tennessee, to James L. and Betty M. Musick. Over the next few years, the family welcomed brothers, Michael and Terry.

Betty's father was a career member of the U.S. Air Force, and the family traveled to various areas of the U. S. and abroad. She attended several schools and made many friends over the years. The family eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas, and she graduated from Southwest High School in 1964. After graduation she worked as an analyst at the United States Automobile Association in San Antonio until September 1966 when she moved to Pullman, Washington, to work for Washington State University beginning in the Program in Genetics. She moved to the Agronomy Department in December 1966 and worked in the College of Agriculture from then until she retired from the Department of Horticulture in January 2012 as Administrative Manager. She was a rare example of being employed by the same employer for 46 years and she worked in Johnson Hall the entire time. She said she felt like she sort of disappeared when they demolished Johnson Hall recently.

Betty was an avid reader, liked to travel, and spend time at casinos with friends. Family and friends remember her as an independent, fun-loving individual with quick wit and with a generous, giving nature. Betty felt commitment to her family and helped to support her mother after her father passed. She will truly be missed.

She is preceded in death by her father, mother, and her brother, Mike. She is survived by her brother, Terry, and nephews Michael L Musick and James H. Musick and her great nieces and nephews.

Betty requested there be no services and she will be interred in the Pullman Cemetery. If you wish to remember her, please select a charity of your choice.
