Betty L. Paulsen, 89 , entered into eternal rest after a long battle with dementia in Pullman, WA (formerly of Wenatchee) on October 22, 2016. She was the ninth child of Robert and Malissa Vaughn, born June 18, 1927, West Plains, MO. In 1934 her family of 12 traveled in a flatbed truck during the great depression to Peshastin, then settled in Cashmere, WA. Betty graduated Cashmere High where she delighted singing in choir. In 1947 she married Raymond (Bud) Clunis owning a cherry/apple orchard in Dryden, until Bud contracted polio, then moving to Wenatchee to rear three children; Patricia Geno (Everett), Janie (Bill) Umphrey (Spokane) and David Clunis (Pasco). Later Betty married Hubert (Hub) Paulsen and raised son, Tom Paulsen (Pullman). Hub and Betty managed the Plaza Market for 10 years, concluding 30 years at his passing. Betty will be remembered adoringly for her pretty dimpled smile, quick wit and sense of humor, endearing time spent with family, great meals, charming cross stitch pieces, gardening, love of music and the Lord. Betty was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers, survived by four children, seven grandchildren; Vicki Parkhill and Jeff Hensley (Wenatchee), Joey Geno (Everett) Mindy Umphrey (Spokane), Caitlin Clunis (Portland), Matt and Kayla Paulsen (Pullman), four great grandchildren; Ian Sagdal and Elijah Smiley (Wenatchee), Riley Geno (Everett), Hayley Paulsen (Pullman) and numerous nieces and nephews. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA is caring for the family. A memorial service will be held in Wenatchee at a later date.
