BETTY JEAN (TOMSON) GRIMM
(1919 – 2011)

Betty Jean Grimm, 92, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother was taken into her Lord and Savior's loving arms on December 4, 2011 in Colfax, Washington.

Betty was born on June 26, 1919 in Sandstone, Minnesota to Jay and Bessie (Goldsmith) Tomson. Her family moved to Mora, Minnesota when she was a young girl, where she attended school and where she met her husband, Wesley D. Grimm.

Betty and Wesley were married on March 21, 1942 and on April 1, 1942, Wesley was sent off to war. Betty's sister, Dorothy, moved to Steptoe where she was a teacher. Dorothy encouraged her parents and sister to move there too. Betty wrote Wesley while he was in the service and asked what he thought and he said go ahead. Betty had been working at the telephone company in Mora, Minnesota and was able to the transfer to the Colfax office. When Wesley got out of the service in 1945 he came to Colfax and they started their family. Betty worked at the telephone office until it closed in the late 1960's. Then she worked as a housekeeper at the old nursing home (now Paul's Place) for a few years.

Betty will always be remembered as a prayer warrior by her family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she and Wesley sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Thrifty Grandmothers and enjoyed working there until her health prevented it. Betty also enjoyed reading and crocheting.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 52 years, her sister, Dorothy Roberts, and her grandson, Brent Christopher Grimm.

Betty is survived by her children, Karen and Jim Pair, Bellevue, Washington, Donald and Glenda Grimm, and Kathleen (Kathy) and Jim Kroll, Colfax, Washington, as well as seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family would especially like to thank Lea Ludington and the whole staff at the Courtyard, along with Family Home Care & Hospice and Dr. Bryan Johnson for their loving and compassionate care of our Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma.

A graveside service is planned for December 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Colfax Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Union Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 4066, Spokane, WA 99220, or to a charity of your choice.

Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax is caring for the family. On-line condolences may be left at www.bruningfuneralhome.com
