Bill Evans, Colfax tree trimmer, passed away suddenly in Colfax on Saturday, March 4, 2023 after suffering cardiac arrest. He was 75. Bill was born January 26, 1948 in Missoula, Montana and grew up in that area. He spent his early life working in the Missoula vicinity where he learned the art of tree trimming from his father. Bill and 3 brothers all worked alongside their dad working their trade all over Western Montana. Bill eventually wanted to branch out and visited Whitman County where he would often stay at the Siesta Motel and knock on doors for a week or two while finding tree jobs in this area. This worked into times when his kids would travel with him and help him. He moved to Colfax full time in the late 1990's and was well known in this area for his work ethic. He wasn't afraid of hard work and whenever he wasn't doing that he enjoyed watching TV, boxing, or basketball. He is survived by two children; William (Billy) Evans of Big Timber, MT. and Sarah Danielle (Dani) Evans south of Helena, MT. and one grandson, Hays. No services are planned at this time.
