Brent Earl Wadsworth, 72, passed away unexpectedly from heart failure on October 15, 2013 at his home in Pullman, Washington. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 19th with a viewing at 3:00 pm and services beginning at 4:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Pullman at 1055 NE Orchard Dr. A graveside service will be Monday, October 21st at the Taylor Cemetery near Shelley, Idaho at 11am.
Brent was born July 24, 1941 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Afton Earl and June Campbell Wadsworth. He competed in several science fairs during high school and competed twice in the National Science Fair, once with a 7 ft rocket and once with a robot he invented that moved with a photocell eye. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1959. Brent attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho for one year before serving a two-year Church mission to the Western United States. Following his mission, he completed his education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. While there he met Maeva Kunkel of Pullman, Washington and they married August 31, 1967. He earned his bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1968. They moved to Concord, California where Brent found work designing instruments using chromatography, a new technology at the time. He proudly worked for the same company, Varian, Inc, his entire career. Brent and Maeva kept busy with their family as well. Their two boys and two girls kept them active in boy scouts, swimming, music, soccer matches and coaching baseball. They also were active in the LDS Church. Brent liked to "putter" and was always doing projects around the house. He was fascinated with computers and liked to build his own. He loved books, puns, and lists. He retired five years ago and recently purchased a home in Pullman to be near some of the family. He is survived by his wife, Maeva; 4 children, Laura (David) Brown of Airway Heights, WA, Michael (Sheri) Wadsworth of Pullman, Kelly (J. Daniel) Brown of Edgewood, WA, and Matthew (Natalie) Wadsworth of Kaysville, UT; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He also leaves behind his three sisters, Brenda Lovell of Riverton, UT, Jackie Felt, Lehi, UT, and Kristy Lewis of Idaho Falls, ID and 2 brothers, BenjaminWadsworth, Boise, ID and Enoch Wadsworth of Spanish Fork, UT and his stepmother, Norma Hawkes, Provo, UT.
