We lost a piece of our hearts on Saturday, January 16, when our beloved daughter, sister, grandchild, niece, cousin and friend, Britnie Marie Schatz passed away. Britnie was born in Lewiston, Idaho, on January 9, 1993, to Chad and Michelle Schatz.
From the time Britnie was born, she captured the hearts of everyone that met her. She had big blue eyes and a headful of blonde curly hair to offset her endless smile. Britnie attended Camelot Elementary where she began to collect friends to add to her ever-growing posse. She had a way of bringing people together. She was a ring leader with a passion for going on adventures. Entertaining her family and friends came naturally to Britnie, and she had a knack for being the life of the party.
When Britnie wasn't with her friends, she spent much of her time with her many cousins. She loved spending her summers camping and boating at Priest Lake, swimming, going on road trips, sleepovers, and making short movies. With Britnie's talent and silliness, creating the movies came easily to her and they will be treasured forever. Britnie loved going to the Oregon Coast and her many, many trips there began when she was just a few months old. She loved the ocean and finding "treasures."
Britnie graduated from Lewiston High School in 2011. She started working at Timber Creek Buffet during high school where she had several regulars whom she grew to love and they loved her. Britnie also worked as a server over the years at Applebees and Pizza Hut. In 2015, she started working at Wonder World Learning Center working in the Fours classroom. True to form, Teacher Bee won the hearts of the children in her care and they stole hers. She loved coming up with creative and messy projects for them, singing loudly (and off tune) and chasing them around outside.
Artistic by nature, Britnie enjoyed photography, drawing and painting. She was always on the lookout for new places to take pictures. She loved taking pictures of things she held dear to her heart - nature, animals, family, friends and her dog, Rip. She was also quite good at talking selfies!
One of the most memorable things about Britnie, besides her beautiful smile, was her clumsiness. She broke every piece of technology she touched. It became a joke with her family and friends, and she laughed right along with them.
Britnie is survived by her parents, Michelle Hill (Darin) and Chad Schatz; brother, Eric Hill; maternal grandparents, Mary Louise Estlund and Charles Goucher (Stacy); paternal grandparents, Bernard and Linda Schatz; maternal great-grandmother, Norma Jean Miles (Frank); aunts, Pamela Sandusky (Rusty), Laura Furtado (Eric), Darcy Walker (Mark), Angie O'Harra (Bobby); uncle Brook Schatz (Valerie); and many cousins and a multitude of friends.
Britnie was taken from us way too soon. God has her in His keeping, we have her in our hearts.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Valley Christian Center in Lewiston. Please join us in a celebration of life immediately following in the reception hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Britnie's name to the Lewiston Animal Shelter.
