Obituary

Carleton (Carl) F. Herdering, 92, of Pullman, passed away April 25, 2016 at his Pullman home of congestive heart failure. Carl was born to Carl H. & Benita E. (Radiken) Herdering in Indianapolis, Indiana on Dec. 23, 1923. He was raised in Southern California, graduating from South Pasadena High School. During the Second World War, Carl served as a pilot with the United States Air Transport Command in North Africa. Following the war Carl spent 10 years in the interior of Alaska in construction work on various Air Force Bases. He received B.S. Degree from the University of Alaska in 1956. In 1957 Carl married Judith L. Rometch in Spokane and they moved to Pullman where he was employed by Claude H. Weitz, MD as a laboratory and x-ray technician from 1958 to his retirement in 1989. Carl also worked in the x-ray department at Pullman Memorial Hospital as an emergency on call x-ray technician. He enjoyed golf, gardening, photography and being with his grandchildren. In their retirement years he and Judy enjoyed traveling. Carl was a longtime active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pullman. He is survived by his daughter Susan Herdering; his son Christopher Herdering both of Pullman; two grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy in 2013 and his brother & sister. The memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1300 NW Lybecker St., Pullman. Carl will be laid to rest at the Pullman City Cemetery with his wife Judy. Kimball Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, any organization that helps the developmentally disabled or to a favorite charity.
