Carmen T. Welter, 87, of Pullman, WA passed away April 25, 2026 at her Pullman home. Carmen was born January 1, 1939 in Colfax, WA to Alex & Geneva (Meyer) Bauer. She grew up in Colton, WA and attended Notre Dame Catholic Academy. Following graduation from high school, Carmen attended dental assistance school for a time. Carmen returned to Colton where she married Lewis Welter on September 5, 1959 in Colton. They made Colton their home until moving to Pullman, WA in 1964. Carmen raised the family and operated a daycare in the home where she cared for many area children and grandchildren for decades. She was lovingly known to them as “Carmie”. She later went to work in the family business (Sims Glass) in 1982. She was immersed in her family and home life. Carmen enjoyed working with the Fire Dist. 12 wives while Lewis was a volunteer fireman. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and playing cards, especially pinochle. She also enjoyed baseball and following the children and grandchildren’s activities through the years. Carmen was an avid cougar, mariner, and seahawk fan her entire life. Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and in recent years attended Concordia Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughters Tina Imler (Mark) and Colleen Welter (Mike Connell) all of Pullman; her sons Mark (Shelley) Welter of Chewelah, WA; Dan (Tina) Welter of Pullman; her brother Jim Bauer; two sisters Joy Dahmen & Jeanne Dahmen; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Carmen was preceded in death by her husband Lewis in 2001 and her parents. A private family graveside service will be held at the Pullman Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.
