IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlene Kay
Tolonie
August 17, 1961 – August 4, 2025
Charlene Kay Tolonie, 63, of Pullman, Washington, passed away peacefully at her home on August 4, 2025.
Born on August 17, 1961, in Pullman to Donald and Emilie (Nordlund) Davis, Charlene was a lifelong member of the community she loved. A graduate of Pullman High School, she dedicated her life to making a lasting impact on the town, raising her daughter there and remaining deeply connected to her family and friends. Her warmth, commitment, and presence left an enduring mark on those around her.
Charlene devoted more than 40 years of service to Washington State University, where she worked with professionalism, care, and heart. She retired as Director of the WSU Foundation's Gift Accounting Department, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and deep care for her colleagues and the institution.
Family was at the center of Charlene's life. She treasured time spent with her parents, her daughter, and her grandchildren, who filled her days with joy and pride. Her bond with her daughter, Amber, was especially close — a lifelong connection built on love and deep friendship. Charlene found great joy in road trips to Riggins, Idaho, and outings to the casino with her parents, where they shared stories and laughter over fond memories. Annual trips to the Oregon coast with loved ones became some of the most treasured moments of her life.
Charlene shared an unbreakable bond with her lifelong best friend, Robyn Beach — a friendship rooted in love, loyalty, and shared history. Her dear friend Margie Hirose was another special presence in her life, with whom she shared a deep love of music, true crime, and many laughs.
Charlene is survived by her loving daughter, Amber (Jason) Butcherite of Pullman; her devoted parents, Donald and Emilie Davis of Pullman; her grandchildren, Bailey Line, and Jillian and Jaden Butcherite, who were the light of her life; and her beloved nephews and niece, Ryan, Kyle, Cody, and Kelsey Davis. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Davis, whom she dearly missed every day.
In accordance with Charlene's wishes, no public services will be held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman. Memorial donations in Charlene's honor may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University.
