Dan Haupt, Steptoe resident, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his home near Steptoe. He was 67. Private family services will be at the Bethel Cemetery at Steptoe.

He was born Charles Danny Haupt on July 15, 1957 at the Naval Hospital at Oak Harbor, Washington. His parents were Charles and Aubrie Drake Haupt and Dan was the oldest of their three children. His father was in the Navy and the Army so consequently the family moved around quite a bit while he was growing up. He graduated from high school in Darrington, Washington in 1975. Dan married Debra Marie Grace after dating for several years on July 23, 1983 in Mount Vernon, Washington.

Dan worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation for over 30 years. Starting out as a mechanic in Everett and retiring in 2021 as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Eastern Region.

He loved his work and he loved spending time at home. He could often be seen out in the yard on his tractor or lawn mower. He was affectionately known as a "Mow-A-Holic" because he just loved to do that so much.

He is survived by his wife, Deb, at their home near Steptoe; his son Derek (Kristi) Haupt of Spokane; and his daughter, Melissa (Jon) Morse of Airway Heights; by 6 grandchildren, and by his sister, Carol (Paul) Givler of Marysville, WA. and his brother, Mike Haupt of Marysville, WA. Dan was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial potluck dinner will be held at the Steptoe Grange Hall, 20 Kerns Ave, Steptoe, Washington on March 14th from 3-7pm.
