Obituary

Clyde Lee Hatley, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 2, 2021 at Whitman Memorial Hospital.  He was born February 19, 1932, in Colfax, WA to Mabry and Mary (Lautenschlager) Hatley.  Clyde attended school in Colfax, graduating in 1950.   His father passed away in 1950.  Mary later married Victor Reich and the couple resided in Endicott, WA. where Victor farmed.  Clyde spent many harvests at the farm.

Clyde married Sherry Ann Roberts on August 20, 1952, and they just celebrated their 69 th wedding anniversary.  Clyde was a skilled mechanic and served the Colfax Community for many years operating the local Shell Service Station.  In 1971 Clyde became the Colfax School District bus supervisor, a position he held for 25 years.  He did a fine job of keeping the buses in top shape.  Clyde and Sherry enjoyed fishing and camping on the Snake River, going to Yuma in the winter and spending time with the family.  Clyde was an avid Colfax Bulldog sports fan as well as a big Mariner fan.  Clyde also loved to golf especially with his brother Virgil and his friend Don Dayton.

He is survived by his four children; Trudy (Dick) Abrams of Worley, ID, Vicky (John) Sheehan of Stanwood, WA, Gary Hatley of Coeur d'Alene, ID, and Craig (Vicki) Hatley of Colfax, 11 grandchildren; Heidi (Bob) Lowe, Ashley (Greg) Dailer, Richard (Kathryn) Abrams, Christopher and Kelly Sheehan, Joshua Hatley, Charles Mabry (Michelle) Hatley, Willem Hatley, Elizabeth (Derreck) Nicholas, Kari (Brett) Kozma, and Sam Hatley, 9 great-grandchildren and by 1 great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is his brother, Virgil (Arlene) Hatley.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Whitman Hospital Auxiliary, Colfax Golf Course or charity of donor's choice. They would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Whitman Hospital and Whitman Medical Group for the fabulous care and support over these past few years. A special thank you to Peggy Zaring and Carol Moore of HomeCare for providing such great care, unending support, and good company.

A celebration of Clyde and Sherry's life will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Colfax Golf Course. They will be laid to rest in the Bethel Cemetery at Steptoe. On-line guest book is at www.bruningfuneralhome.com
