Obituary

DALE BRANNAN, 88, of Clarkston, WA passed away Jan. 1, 2015 at the Clarkston Care Center. Dale was born April 6, 1926 in Colfax, WA to Harold R. & Nita E. (Willoughby) Brannan. The early years of his life were spent on the family farm north of Pullman. Dale attended the one room "Enterprise School" until 1935 when he transferred to the Albion School where he remained until finishing his education at Pullman High School. During WWII he left home to work in the shipyards in Portland, OR. Dale was called to the US Army in 1944 where he served in the 5th Cavalry 305th Field Artillery in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Dale served in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Returning to Pullman he worked with his father at the family's dairy during which time he was named the Young Dairyman of the Year in 1956. In 1948 Dale married Shirley Stilson and they later were divorced. He also worked as a salesman for Thompson Motors in Pullman, later owning his own used car business. Dale moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston valley in 1970 where he began his own construction business, building many homes in the area through the years. He married Lois (Jimmie) Reed on January 26, 1980 in Lewiston. They made their home in Asotin, WA for many years before moving to Clarkston in 1995. They enjoyed boating and trips in the San Juan Islands and took numerous vacations to Hawaii. In later years Dale enjoyed golfing excursions with friends. He served as a City Councilman for Asotin, was Commodore of the Hell's Canyon Boat Club and served as president of the Quail Ridge Men's Association. Dale and Lois enjoyed the associations Couples Group, especially the golfing, where they were active for many years. Dale was also a member of the Jaycee's and VFW in the Lewiston-Clarkston valley. He is survived by his wife Jimmie of Clarkston; his son Dan (Lorraine) Brannan of Pullman; his daughters JoAnne (Chuck) Bryan of Pullman; Jeanne (Don) Tulloch of Yakima, WA; Debbi (Ray) Jahaaski of Monument, CO; Michele (Terry) Finseth of Thousand Oaks, CA; seven grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Dale was preceded in death by a brother Lou (Tink) Brannan and half brother Lawrence Brannan. A memorial gathering to celebrate Dale's life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 from 1-4 PM at the Quality Inn of Clarkston, WA. Kimball Funeral Home and Crematory of Pullman, WA are in charge of arrangements.
