Obituary

DANA L. DECHENNE, 90, a longtime St. John, WA resident passed away Oct. 31, 2015 at Touchmark Nursing Center in Spokane, WA. The memorial service and luncheon will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 at the St. John Community Center. A family graveside service will be held at the St. John Cemetery. Dana was born Sept. 27, 1925 in Spokane, WA. She grew up in Cusick, WA and graduated from high school there. She moved to Spokane after high school and met Joe Hargrave. Joe was a farmer in St. John, WA. The couple married and Dana moved to St. John, WA where she has resided since. Mr. Hargrave preceded her in death in 1959. Dana married Virgil Dechenne on Aug. 14, 1961. She was a farm wife all of her life, assisting with all the many duties of operating a farm. Dana also raised the family as well. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put others ahead of herself. Dana was a wonderful cook who will always be remembered for her Dana rolls. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing cards. Dana was a member of the Eaton Grange through the years, and was an active member of the St. John, WA community. She is survived by her daughters Janice Hargrave of St. John; Cindy (Allen) Lyden of Valleyford, WA; Charlene (Gary) Smick of Mukilteo, WA; one sister Helen Giles; 4 grandchildren Jolee (Guillermo); Kara (Sid); Tessa & Kate and 5 great grandchildren Konrad, Charlie, Gabriel, Claudia & Luisa. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil in 2007. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax, WA is caring for the family. Memorial donations are suggested to the St. John EMT's/Fire Dept. or to the St. John Park Fund.
