Obituary

Daniel W. Boone, 89, a lifelong Pullman resident and area farmer, passed away March 2, 2017 at Pullman Regional Hospital. The memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1300 SE Sunnymead Way. A private family graveside service will be held at the Pullman Cemetery. Dan was born Sept. 27, 1927 in Pullman to Daniel & Opal (Brooks) Boone. He grew up and attended Beauridell school and later graduating from Pullman High School. Dan served in the United States Coast Guard and following his honorable discharge he returned home to Pullman. Dan worked for Brotherton Seed Co. & Everett Will Tractor for a time until taking over operation of the Boone family farm. On July 9, 1949 Dan married Nancy Swanson in Aberdeen, WA and together they made the farm their home. Dan spent his entire career farming the land he so loved. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cherished time with family. Dan enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping and traveling. He was involved in many community activities including serving as a Pullman School Board member, Federal Land Bank Board of Directors, Whitman County Commissioner, Whitman County Port Commissioner and was always active with the Grange. Dan was also active throughout his life with Gideons International and was instrumental in helping to start several area churches through the years. He is survived by his children Linda Marshall; Mike (Dede); Gary; Jim (Dalene); Ron (Roxy); and Marsha (Dale) Druffel; 10 grandchildren: James, Megan, Karee, Brady, Christa, Peyton, Savanah, Kasey, Sammie, Chase; 8 great grandchildren ; Ryan, Ava, Daisy, Wiley, Mirabel, Cade, Tucker and Camden and one sister Jeannine Block and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Nancy who preceded him in death in 2015. Dan was also preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Rosella Mirth Sims, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Gideons International or to the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation.
