Daniel O. Johnson was born October 20, 1933 to Dewey and Bertha (Strom) Johnson in Beresford, SD. He passed away November 4, 2022 in Colfax, WA at the age of 89. Dan was the third of four brothers raised on the family farm south of Beresford. He received his education at the Glenwood rural school and attended Beresford high school. Dan joined the US Army in 1954 and at the time of his discharge he was ranked staff sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1956.

Dan married his wife Marilyn Holley of 66 years on June 10, 1956. They lived in South Dakota, Texas, and now for the last 22 years in Colfax. He worked in various jobs ranging from farming, management, owner/operator of a service station, state inspection officer, sales of cars and real estate. Dan enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing and playing pool with his grandsons. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Grateful for having shared his life for 66 years is his wife, Marilyn, surviving him at their home. He is also survived by his daughter Debbie (Mike) Aeschliman of Colfax, WA; daughter-in-law, Mary Johnson of Abilene, TX; four grandchildren, Jessica (Kenny) Smith of Walla Walla, WA, Chad, Chase and Chayne Aeschliman all of Colfax, WA; three great-grandchildren, Tazia Johnson, and Ariella and Aidric Smith; three sisters-in-law, Betty Jenson of Beresford, SD., Joyce Dew of Indianola, IA., and Marj Ploof of Sioux Falls, SD., along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his son Michael, grandson, Dustin Johnson, and his brothers, Jack, Bob and Jim Johnson. At Dan's request there will be no formal funeral or memorial services. Instead, tell the ones you love that you love them because you never know what tomorrow will bring or if you will get the chance to do so.
