Obituary

Doyle Darrel Herrmann, 65, of Deary passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2014 at his home. Graveside funeral services with Masonic rites will be held Tuesday Sept. 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pinecrest Cemetery in Deary.

Darrel was born on March 23, 1949 in Moscow, Idaho to Doyle & Betty (Henderson) Herrmann. His father passed away when Darrel was six months old and his mother later married Cliff Proctor and it was Cliff that Darrel called dad. Darrel grew up in Deary and attended the local schools, graduating from Deary High School with the class of 1967. He went on to attend Spokane Community College and earned his tradesman certificate in welding.

Darrel met Elizabeth Rantanen and they married on March 21, 1969. They made their home in Deary where Darrel had a long and fulfilling career in the timber industry. Over the years he worked for Bennett Lumber, Potlatch Corporation, Lawson Logging and, most recently, Pine Creek Logging.

He enjoyed four-wheeling with his grandchildren, camping, hunting, gardening and cooking. His family described him as an expert jam maker. He enjoyed all types of sports and was particularly fond of Gonzaga basketball, Nascar races and Seattle Mariner's baseball. In his earlier years, Darrel played town-team baseball in Deary-Bovill and was also a Boy Scout troop leader for over ten years. He was also a longstanding member of the Masonic Lodge, Unity #32 of Genesee.

Darrel is survived by the love of his life, Liz Herrmann; son Scott (Angie) Herrmann and daughter Janel (Don Deroin) Herrmann; grandchildren Sydney, Jase and Justin Herrmann; brothers Bernal (Claudia) Femreite; Rod (Kathy) Proctor; Dana (Joan) Proctor and Den (Brenda) Proctor; one sister Malissa (Bruce) Bogar as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Doyle Herrmann and Cliff & Betty Proctor as well as his son Robert Doyle Herrmann.

Memorial contributions in Darrel's honor are suggested to the Masonic Lodge - Unity #32, c/o Murray Stanton, 1371 Mica Mountain Road, Deary, Idaho 83823. Kimball Funeral Home & Crematory of Pullman has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
