Darryl John Courson, Starbuck resident, died suddenly on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at his home. He was 49. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be at the park in Starbuck on Sunday, June 4th, beginning at 1:00. Please bring a salad or dessert to share. Darryl was born August 29, 1973 in Richland, Washington to Ralph and Patricia Perkins Courson. Early years were spent in Mesa, Washington before moving to the Tri-Cities where he graduated from Kamiakin High School in 1992. Darryl completed paramedic training at Columbia Basin College and spent some time working in the emergency medical field in Seattle and Vancouver, Washington. He also worked for several years in the Middle East area of Afghanistan doing work as a paramedic for civilian contractors. Darryl spent some time living and working in Louisiana before returning to the Columbia Basin in 2014. He loved to cook; especially Cajun food. He liked those spices. He was also a master at the grill. Darryl enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and he liked to hunt and fish. He enjoyed small town living and tried to avoid "the big city" whenever he could. While working as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for her fencing company; Darryl became friends with and eventually married Mary-Jo Day. They married in the park in Starbuck on April 1, 2021. They also worked together installing meteorological towers for wind turbines in the area and have been together for the last four years. Mary-Jo survives him at their Starbuck home. He also leaves behind his children; Reba, Steven, and Emily Courson; his step-daughter, Saya Marie Liabl; his mother, Patricia Courson; his sister's; Heather (Chris) Lee; and, Shannon Rangle (April Snider), as well as several nieces and nephews.
