David A. Gordon, Sr., Steptoe resident, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 at his home. He was 89. Viewing for Mr. Gordon will be on Sunday from 6 – 8 pm at the Corbeill Funeral Home in Colfax. A graveside service will be Monday, April 25 ^th , at 2:30 in the afternoon at the Bethel Cemetery, Steptoe. David was born December 22, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Linne Dahmer Gordon. He grew up in Illinois and Michigan before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force when he was 17. Following basic training David attended school at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas where he received training as an aircraft maintenance specialist. He served as a member of the 376 ^th Field Maintenance Squadron. David was honorably discharged from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana in 1955. David worked as a building inspector in Berkley, California where he lived for many years with his family. Earlier marriages to Marietta and Shannon both ended in divorce. He married Mava Louise Miller in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1982. Since that time David called Whitman County home and he worked as the Whitman County Building Inspector for many years before retiring. He has lived in Steptoe for the last 15 years. David loved to go fishing. He is survived by his wife Mava at their Steptoe home; his children, David A. Gordon, Jr. in the Seattle area, Michael (Jeannette) Gordon of Pullman, Jamie (Kim) Gordon, Colfax, and Grace Gordon of Oakland, CA.; by his step-children, Chris (Max) Benson, Susan (Tony) Wofford, Jay (Lynnette) Goodson, and Eugene (Nicole) Spaulding; his brother, Maurice Gordon of Aurora, CO.; by 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
