David Lee Hubbard, 78, a St. John resident, passed away January 22, 2013 at Harbor Glen Memory Care in Spokane, WA. David was born October 14, 1934 to Rod and Zella Hubbard in Dayton, Washington. The family moved to LaCrosse in 1946. After graduating from LaCrosse High School in 1953 he joined the U.S. Air Force serving for 23 years. He married Carolyn Guske in LaCrosse September 29, 1956 raising their family in military style. David is survived by his wife Carolyn at home in St. John; 2 daughters, Laurie Enloe, Spokane, Joyce (Clyde) Leifer, Pine City, WA.; 2 sons, Ron, Portland, OR, Randy and his partner Dan, San Diego, CA.; grandchildren Kayla (Alex) Garcia, Kalispell, MT, Brent Leifer, Spokane, Rachael Hubbard, Portland, Nathan Hubbard, Spokane and Ian Hubbard, San Diego. After retiring from the Air Force David and Carolyn moved to St. John, WA. in 1975 where David worked for the Whitman County Road Department for 20 years. David moved into Harbor Glen Assisted Living in Spokane in 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ken Hubbard. A private family Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 25th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in St. John. A public catered luncheon reception will be at 1:00 at the St. John Community Building. All are invited to attend. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the St. John Fire Dept. and EMTs.
