David Louis Jones
August 16th, 1940 - April 1st, 2023
With great sorrow in our hearts, we announce the passing of David Louis Jones. David was born on August 16th, 1940 and lived to the age of 82 years old. On April 1st, 2023, he died of a heart attack. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon, brother Nathan, son David, and daughters Heidi and Rebecca, as well as a host of adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded by his first wife, LoReis, whom he is now reunited with in the Kingdom of God.
David loved God first and foremost and looked for His will in all things. He was a pastor, and together with his family led the wagon-train ministry. Even as he retired from ministry, he never stopped teaching the gospel. The Lord gave him great passion and many talents, many avenues through which to share God's love and spread the good news of Jesus.
Professionally, David was a true cowboy, corporate ranch manager, bronc-stomper and horse trainer. After opening Packers Supply House, he became a master saddle maker and leather worker, through which he showed his incredible skill as an artist and craftsman. He also spent time cutting timber in Alaska. But the horse remained at the heart of his journey. Even when he could no longer sit in the saddle, he put horses in harness and rode the wagon.
A treasury of tales made up the tapestry of David's life, like Joseph's coat of many colors. He lived a life too big, too full to fit on one piece of paper.
In his time on this earth, he left a powerful impact in the lives of all who knew him. To those who love him, his passing marks the end of an era; he has been, and always will be, a real-life legend. He left a great legacy of life, joy and love in his wake. Until we see him again…
A celebration of David's life will be held at the Waitsburg Town Hall on Sunday, April 23rd at 2:00 PM. We will have a short memorial, time for sharing stories and fellowship.
