IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dede "Dorothy"
Wiley
January 23, 1945 – February 17, 2026
Dede “Dorothy Louise” Wiley, 81, of Pullman, WA passed away February 17, 2026, at Pullman Regional Hospital. Born January 23, 1945, in Hartford, CT to Fred & Edith (Usher) Wiley, Dede grew up in Massachusetts, graduating from Smith College. Soon after, she met and married George Rubottom, with whom she shared two sons. After living in California, Pennsylvania, and Puerto Rico, they moved to Moscow, Idaho. She completed her law degree at the University of Idaho, passed the Washington Bar Exam, and moved to Pullman in 1980. Following a divorce, Dede met Bill Gnaedinger, her love and partner until his death in 2013. Dede’s career in family law took her through many wonderful partnerships. Though she retired in 2010, Dede remained an active member of her community. She was an avid fan of the Idaho Vandals and Gonzaga Bulldogs, a longtime member of the Pullman Kiwanis Club and the first executive director of Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse. She loved the water and spent as much time as she could at both Killarney Lake and in her family cabin on the coast of Southern Maine. Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors, travel, puzzles, and games, especially when she won, and always delighted in a good party. When asked of her philosophy on life, Dede always replied “leave things better than you found them.” That is exactly what she did. She is survived by her sons Tom (Madeline) Rubottom of Eastsound, WA; Will Rubottom of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; her sister Mimi Tipton; grandchildren Grant, Kyle, Acacia, Willow, Finnian, Neo, and Rayne; one great grandchild, Scarlette and many nieces and nephews. As was her request, there will be no public services, though a memorial is in the works for the summer. Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements. The family suggests memorial donations to Planned Parenthood of Pullman, 1525 King Dr., Pullman, WA 99163 or to the Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse, 255 N. Main St. #102, Pullman, WA 99163.
