Obituary

DEL ROWLAND, 100, a longtime Pullman businessman, passed away Feb. 17, 2015 at Whitman Senior Living Center in Pullman, WA. Del was born April 2, 1914 in Asotin, WA to Arch & Belle (Griffin) Rowland. He grew up in the Lewiston/Clarkston valley, graduating from Lewiston High School. Del came to Pullman on a ROTC scholarship where he attended Washington State College now WSU, majoring in business. He met Mildred "Mid" Jamar and they married on March 12, 1938 at her parent's home in Pullman. Del entered the US Army Air Corp during WWII, serving in California, Texas and Alaska. Following his honorable discharge Del returned to Pullman where he and Mid made their home. They purchased Pullman Laundry and Dry Cleaning and together operated the business for many years. Del's interests included investment properties, golfing, WSU athletics and Pullman High athletics. He was a fixture at all the different venues and especially enjoyed following his grandchildren's activities. Del was a member of the Pullman Lions Club and was active in the Pullman community, always a part of giving back to others. Del is survived by his daughter Dede Boone and husband Mike of Pullman; his son Jim Rowland and wife Gail; three grandchildren Karee Shaw, Brady Boone and wife Sadie, Jamar Rowland and three great grandchildren Daisy, Mirabel & Wiley. He was preceded in death by his wife Mid in 2012. A private family graveside service will take place at the Pullman Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Pullman Lions Club or to the Gladish Cultural & Community Center View Room.
