In 1945 he left school one semester short of graduation in order to help his father with work on the ranch. Del continued the family ranching operation for the rest of his life, raising cattle, sheep, hogs and helping his mother with chickens. He also grew and harvested wheat.
Del enjoyed hunting, fishing and rock collecting. He was an accomplished photographer, taking a trip to the Bahamas to take photographs. He enjoyed making jewelry with the rocks that he found and was a lifetime member of the Masons Concordia Lodge #249 in Spokane.
He is survived by his sister Marlene Myers of Colfax; niece Michelle Donahue of Sonora, California and nephew Shaun Donahue of Spokane. He was preceded in death by his father in 1965, his younger brother Herbert Harris II in 1975 and his mother Bonita in 2002. Memorial contributions in Del's honor are suggested to the Heart Institute at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle.
Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
