Obituary

Dennis L. Cox, the best dad in the world, longtime Pullman resident, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Pullman Regional Hospital. He was 73. A graveside service will be Thursday, February 15th at 11:30 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse with Pastor Corey Laughary officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday from 9 to 5 at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Dennis was born May 31, 1944 in Colfax, Washington to Eslie and Evelyn Foster Cox. He grew up in Palouse along with his older sister Marlene. While in high school, Dennis began working for a farmer and continued part time farm work into adulthood. He graduated from Palouse High School in 1963. Dennis began working at Washington State University in 1965 as a heavy equipment operator for a few years. He then worked his way into refrigeration mechanic. He retired in 2009 after 44 years of service at WSU. He married Jackquelyn Buckingham and they made their home in Pullman and had two sons, Samuel and David. Dennis and Jackie divorced in 1990 but remained friends. Dennis enjoyed boating and camping at Lake Coeur d'Alene, water skiing, target shooting, walking his dog and steelhead salmon fishing on the Snake and Clearwater rivers. He also belonged to the Moscow Elks and the Pullman MOOSE Lodges. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle or playing with his dog, Terminator. Dennis liked visiting with his neighbors and working on his house or helping them with theirs. They kept an eye out for each other and his family will forever be grateful to the neighbors. He is survived by his two sons; Samuel A. Cox of Pullman and David G. Cox of Spokane; his sister, Marlene Wright of Wenatchee, WA; a niece and a nephew, and a dear friend of the family Betty Tribbet. He was preceded in death by his parents and very special aunts, Fern Waller and Helen Nagle. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman is in charge of the arrangements. www.kimballfh.com
