Desiree Dawn Delp, well-known Dayton area cook, passed away suddenly on January 22, 2026 at the Dayton General Hospital. She was 56. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 31, at 1:00 pm at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dayton.

Desiree was born November 16, 1969 in Walla Walla to Gary and Gloria Bassett Delp. She grew up in Dayton and when she was about 10 years old her little brother Derek was born. Desiree attended school in Dayton where she was a very social child and had lots of friends.

Following high school; Desiree began working as a cook. Everyone loved her food. "Dez" as she was known to many; worked at The Tuxedo in Prescott. She lived in Waitsburg for about 11 years before returning home to Dayton. She worked at the Shell station in Dayton. Other places she cooked for were the Bluewood Ski Resort, Subway, and the Eagles.

Some health struggles as of late have caused her to slow down quite a bit. She still enjoyed  taking slow walks through the cemetery. She always had a love for cats and had several over the years. She was especially close to her cat named "Devie".

Dez was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved the Lord and would often read her bible and also witness to people about Him. She liked gardening and raising herbs. She was fascinated by many of the different mint plants she grew and enjoyed sharing that time with her mom.

Desiree leaves behind her loving family; including her mom, Gloria, and brother Derek Delp both at home in Dayton. She will be missed by her best friends Orinda Woods and Crystal Patterson as well. She was preceded in death by her father Gary in 2018.
