Dixie Lee Brannon, 71, longtime resident of Colfax, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Providence Medical Center in Spokane. Memorial Services will be Friday, June 29 ^th , at 11:00 a.m. at the Colfax United Methodist Church with graveside services following in the Colfax Cemetery. Dixie was the second of three children born to Charlie and Ima Lee Harrah Boyle. She entered this world on September 15, 1946 in Spokane, Washington. The family moved to Deer Park when Dixie was a small girl and she grew up there with her brothers, Clyde and Ed, and graduated from Riverside High School in 1964. She attended Washington State University in Pullman and received her Bachelor's Degree. Dixie taught school in Auburn, Washington for a few years before moving back to Eastern Washington. She worked as a bartender for Pete's and Sullivan's in Colfax when she met Alvin Brannon. They rode a motorcycle to Las Vegas, Nevada one hot August day and were married in The Little White Chapel on August 8, 1974. For most of the last 43 years they have happily lived in the same house in Colfax. Dixie worked for over 32 years at Washington State University, first as a student academic advisor in the student learning and advising center and in later years; she worked with the graduate students. She retired at age 58 and devoted more of her time to the things she loved to do, such as golf, bowling and church activities. Dixie was active in the Colfax United Methodist Church and was a big part of their women's ministries. She and Alvin liked to fish and she also found time to knit and crochet. Dixie will be missed by many in the Colfax community but especially by her husband of 43 years, Alvin, at their home and by her brother, Ed Boyle of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Clyde.
