Donald Dayton, Sr., retired truck driver, passed away December 12, 2017, at his winter vacation home in Yuma, Arizona. He was 83. Don was born on January 18, 1934 in Colfax, WA to Dwight and Louella Dayton. A memorial service will be held on April 21, 2018 at 11:00 am at Bruning Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Ingalls officiating. Don lived in Colfax his entire life and raised his family in the same area where he grew up. As a young man he worked on his mother's family farm near Dusty then began a truck driving career in the early 1960's. Don liked to hunt and fish on the Snake River and enjoyed working with his hands and building the occasional "hot rod." After retiring, Don became an avid golfer and spent much of his free time honoring his skills at the Colfax Golf Course. Once retired he and Mary, his wife of 55 years, began spending the winter months in Yuma, Arizona, where he golfed and enjoyed the comradery of many friends and long-time acquaintances. Don is survived by sons Craig (Cathie) Dayton of Bow, WA, Doug (Sharon) Dayton of Otis Orchards, WA, step-son Mike (Julie) Longmire of Corvallis, OR, sister Evelyn French and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Mary Ann Mitchell. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dayton, son Donald Dayton Jr., step-daughter Connie Dayton, and sister Elaine Frederecks and by his parents. The family requests memorial gifts be made to Hospice of Yuma in Yuma, AZ.
