IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald A.
Gallagher
June 2, 1938 – January 26, 2025
Donald A. Gallagher, 86, of Albion, WA, passed away on January 26, 2025, at his home. Born on June 2, 1938, in Herreid, South Dakota, he was the son of LeRoy and Freida (Hehn) Gallagher. The family frequently relocated during his childhood, eventually settling in Glendive, Montana, where he completed his high school education.
Don enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam era. After his honorable discharge, he dedicated 10 years to the Army National Guard while pursuing a career in insurance sales in Coeur D'Alene and northern Idaho. He excelled in sales, earning numerous awards and receiving training at the prestigious Carnegie School of Sales in Chicago. Known for his Positive Mental Attitude, he often shared this philosophy with his doctors.
In 1971, Don moved to Pullman, WA, and began working as the Parts Manager for Brown & Holter Chevrolet (now Chipman & Taylor). It was there that he met Linda Branch, whom he married in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, in 1972. The couple established their family home across the street from Linda's parents in Albion, WA. Later, Don took a position at Washington State University, where he worked until his retirement.
Throughout the years, he was actively involved in Camp Fire Girls, even serving as president of the organization for a time. In the early 1990s, the family initiated a Christmas Craft fair to raise funds for Camp Fire, which quickly evolved into their renowned family business, DLG Events. They became hosts of the Fall Vintage & Handmade Crafts Fair and the WSU Spring Family Weekend Arts & Crafts Fair, both held at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman, WA, for several decades.
Don enjoyed various hobbies, including country rides in his 1929 Model A Ford, ATV adventures, shooting sports, and spending quality time with his pets and family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda, at their family home, along with his beloved Albion family: daughter Ginger Gallagher, favorite son-in-law Jason Childers, and granddaughter Samantha Gallagher.
A funeral service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the Corbeill Funeral Home Chapel, located at 905 S. Grand Ave., Pullman, WA. Donald will be laid to rest at the Albion Cemetery.
