Obituary

Donald Conrad Moore, 91, long time Colfax area resident, passed away Wednesday February 8, 2017 at Whitman Health and Rehab Center in Colfax. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 17th at 2:00 pm at the Colfax Nazarene Church. Viewing will be Wednesday and Thursday, February 15th and 16th, at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax.

Don was born May 13, 1925 in Endicott, Washington to Conrad and Christine (Leinweber) Moore. He was raised on the farm near Endicott and graduated from Endicott High School in 1943. He married Lenora B. Carlson at Selbu Lutheran Church November 29, 1947 after meeting through mutual friends in Spokane. They lived in Colfax where they operated the Top Notch Café for a couple years before starting to farm on the Parvin road. After six years, they moved to the Moore home farm near Endicott and Dusty where Don kept busy farming throughout all his years. They moved to the Carlson farm, where Lenora had grown up. Two of their children began taking over more of the farming operation and Don and Lenora built a home in Colfax in 1987. They sold the home and then moved to Hillray Plaza. Lenora passed away on February 7, 2009 after 61 years of marriage to Don.

Don was a member of the Selbu Lutheran Church where he served in many different ways over the years including teaching Sunday school and leading a young couples' bible study. He also played the bass guitar in a gospel band that led services at the Union Gospel Mission of Spokane. He was a member of the Washington Wheat Growers and also the Washington Farm Bureau. He enjoyed restoring engines and playing his acoustic guitar and harmonica. Don loved spending time with his family and taking his 3 boys camping at Buffalo Hump in ID. He liked to fish some but really loved working on the farm. He was instrumental in the formation of JP PIES for his great-grandson JP Kimmell.

Don is survived by his 3 sons; James of Portland, OR., Steve and wife Carol of Dusty and Daniel and wife Jill of LaCrosse; 5 grandchildren, Miranda (Sam) Kimmell, David Moore, Jena Moore, Lauren (Jared Hereford) Moore and Kurtis Moore; 3 great-grandchildren, Avery and Jase Kimmell, and Malachi Moore; and by his 3 sisters, Viola Clark, Wanda Weber, and Janet Mueller. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Del Moore, and by his wife, Lenora.
