Obituary

Donna Felgenhauer, Oakesdale resident, passed away August 27, 2026 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax from complications of pneumonia. She was 75. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 10th, at 1:00 pm at the Rosewood Cemetery (between Latah & Fairfield, WA) with Pastor Mark Mewhinney of the Latah Country Bible Church officiating.

Donna was born December 30, 1950 in Spirit Lake, Idaho to Donald and Dorothy Simpson Satchwell. She was the second of four children born to the Satchwell’s. She grew up on the Rathdrum Prairie and graduated from Post Falls High School as the class Salutatorian in 1969. A very beautiful young woman; Donna also competed in the Miss Idaho pageant and was crowned runner-up. Following graduation, Donna attended North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene and completed her Associate’s Degree as a Medical Secretary. She met Bob Felgenhauer on a blind date in April, graduated from NIC in June, and they were married November 6, 1971. After more than 54 years together Bob still marvels at how lucky he seemed to have “caught her”.

They made their home in Fairfield where she raised her children and excelled at being a wonderful homemaker, mother, and wife. She blessed her family with her many talents including, but not limited to; she was a wonderful cook, an artistic and talented cake decorator and always made sure they had fabulous birthday cakes. She loved to go camping and spend time outdoors. Trips to pick huckleberries or gather firewood together as a family were always special. She could sit by the stream or river for hours and just listen to its sounds. She was also good at the sewing machine and belonged to a local quilting group and she liked to play the piano.

Donna worked for home health at first and then later at a doctor’s office in Spokane. Her main focus was always on her family though and that was even more evident once her granddaughters arrived. She loved to watch them when they were little and she even put their names on their bedrooms for when they came to visit. They lovingly called her “grammy” and she loved every minute. Donna and Bob moved to Oakesdale in 2001.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, at their home; her children, Jenni (Donald) Riehle of Cheney and Marc (Alene) Felgenhauer of Fairfield; her two granddaughters of whom she was so proud; Taylor and Lillie; by her mother, Dorothy, living in Coeur d’Alene; her brother Donald Satchwell in New Jersey and her sister, DeImna Heiken in Montana. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dean, and by her father, Donald.

The family suggests memorial gifts in her memory be to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of donor’s choice. On-line guest book is at www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com
