Doris Girdner Billingsley, 100, of Moscow, ID passed away May 22, 2023 at Pullman Regional Hospital.  Doris was born April 17, 1923 in Chillicothe, MO to David & Laura (Flenniken) Girdner.  Doris grew up in Missouri and upon graduation from high school as Valedictorian of her class, she moved to the east coast and attended George Washington University, in Washington DC, where she received her Bachelor and Master's degree's.  It was during this time Doris met William A. Billingsley and following their wedding lived in Brooklyn, NY while he completed his time in the US Navy and she went to work for the State Department. In 1954, after living for four years and starting a family in Des Moines, IA, the family moved to Moscow, ID.  Doris received her teaching certificate in 1960 and taught for a while in the Moscow school district.  Doris later became the Assistant to the Dean of Home Economics at the University of Idaho, where she enjoyed many years until her retirement.  Doris loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and traveling.  She volunteered with area charities and outreach programs and even found time to dabble in music.  Doris was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church and was involved in all areas of ministry through the years.  Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, who so enjoyed time with her family.  She is survived by her three sons William A. Billingsley Jr; David J. Billingsley and Thomas J. Billingsley; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  Doris was preceded in death by her husband Bill; sister Dorothy Phoenix and brother Raymond Girdner.  Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.
