Dorothy Alice (Billingsley) Lowe went to be with her Lord on January 31, 2011. She passed away following a short illness at the Whitman Health & Rehabilitation Center in Colfax. She had made her home at the Courtyard for the past six years. Dorothy was a life long resident of Whitman County. A Memorial Service honoring her life will be held on Saturday, February 19th at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Colfax. Dorothy was laid to rest next to her husband at the Colfax Cemetery in a private ceremony that was held earlier. She was born near Steptoe January 25, 1920 to George and Gladys (McGinnis) Billingsley. She attended school in Steptoe. She married Marcus "Dutch" Lowe on September 28, 1935. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters and a son; Linda Ann, Donna Jean and Daryl George.
Dorothy served her Lord as a faithful member of the Colfax First Baptist Church. She was also a long time member of the Rebekah's Lodge. Dorothy did work as a pea sorter for the Rogers Brothers Seed Co and kept very busy as a homemaker and mother. Before her husband passed away in 1992, they enjoyed many hours together driving through the beautiful countryside of their beloved Palouse surroundings. They loved to take pleasure in their many wildlife sightings. They fondly remembered many car trips to the Blue Mountains as well. She and Dutch were both avid fans of the Colfax Bulldogs and their sports activities.
She is survived by her children; Linda Coats, Pueblo, CO., Donna and Mike Farmer, Hurst, TX. and Daryl and Karen Lowe of Colfax; grandchildren; David & Michelle Graff, Darren Graff, Bob & Heidi Lowe, Jeff Lowe, Jennifer & Butch Booker, Bill & Terri Baker and Robert Baker; great-grandchildren; Kami Lowe, Reagan Lowe, Cotton Booker, Raegan Graff, Jennifer, Andrea, Vance and Hayden Baker, and Dylan, Dalton, and Franklin Carrothers; she is also survived by her sister, LaVelle Gardner of Oakesdale. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. The family suggests memorials be made to the Steptoe Community Fund, P.O. Box 25, Steptoe, WA. 99174.
