Douglas Robert Hall, 55, long time Colfax resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the gymnasium of Colfax High School. Viewing will be Thursday and Friday from Noon to 4:00 each day and Saturday after the service at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Doug was born March 18, 1958 in Colfax to Erwin and Joan (Mohr) Hall. He was the oldest of many siblings and liked to be a little mischievous as a boy. He graduated from Colfax High School, where he was an avid wrestler, in 1976. Doug enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas in Frankfurt, Germany where he was an ammunition specialist aboard Army tanks. He truly honed his wrestling skills while serving in the Army. After 3 ½ years he was honorably discharged and returned home to Colfax. He attended school at the DeVry Institute in Phoenix, AZ, briefly at WSU in Pullman, and finally at the University of Idaho in Moscow where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems. He married Karen Hendrickson of Diamond, WA. November 1, 1986. They lived in many areas around the Palouse region and in Moscow before being divorced later. Doug worked for over twenty five years at the University of Idaho as an information systems analyst. He and his significant other, Diane Gilchrist, have made their home in Colfax for the past 12 years. Doug was very active and involved in Little Guys Wrestling in Colfax and had served as the Club President for a time. He liked to go hunting and fishing with his boys and always made sure they knew how to wrestle too. Camping and spending time outdoors were favorite activities of his. He was an excellent cook and loved to fix almost anything in the kitchen. He liked to play pool and foosball, and he loved to golf. Doug is survived by and will be missed by his large, loving family including his children; Cameron Hall, Pullman, Derek Hall, Lewiston, Drew Hall, Colfax, Dillon and Dalton McNeilly both of Colfax; his longtime companion, Diane Gilchrist at their home in Colfax; his father, Erwin (Linda) Hall, Steptoe; his mother, Joan (Cliff) Couey, Palermo, CA.; the mother to three of his sons, Karen Hall, Colfax; his siblings, David Hall, Redding, CA., Dean Hall, Colfax, Dan Hall, Steptoe, Dennis Hall, Colfax, Joy Hall, Colfax, Darin Best, MT., Jeralynn Best, Ferndale, WA., Julie Wohrle, Eagle River, AK., Lisa Largent, Onecho, Cathy Yates, Spokane, Tricia Hereford, Rosalia, Mike Rusch, Colfax, Rebecca Upton, Seattle, Kerry Lutz, Eugene, OR., Jennifer Rueb, Phoenix, AZ., Mike Couey, Friday Harbor, WA., Melinda Danks, Birch Bay, WA. and Mark Couey, Oroville, CA. as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Doug loved life and lived it to the fullest, had a robust personality, took pleasure in caring for his loved ones, continued his strong ties with his high school classmates, and was loved by all who had the honor of knowing him. The family suggests memorial gifts in his name be given to Colfax Wrestling Program %Shari Lord.
