Obituary

DUANE ORIN LANE, 86, of Pullman, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at his Pullman home. Duane was born Nov. 2, 1927 in Pullman to Leslie & Ailsie (Zornes) Lane. The family moved to Spokane and later to Washtucna, WA and Vernonia, OR where Duane graduated from high school. Following high school Duane entered the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving his country during WWII. Following his honorable discharge Duane returned to Washtucna. He married Patricia "Pat" Womack and the couple married in Ritzville, WA on Oct. 21, 1950. They moved to Lewiston for a time and in 1964 came to Pullman where they have made their home since that time. Duane owned and operated Pullman Radio and TV for many years until his retirement. Duane and Pat enjoyed traveling together. Their journeys were many including traveling the US in their fifth wheel and trips to England, Mazatlan, Canada, Mexico and Alaska. Duane loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing, playing golf and trap shooting. He was a member of the Idaho State Trapshooting Association, serving as president of that organization. He also enjoyed bowling and was an avid reader. Duane was a quiet family man. He was also very close to the family dogs. Duane attended the Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Pullman and was a member of the Elks Lodge. He is survived by his wife Pat at the family home in Pullman; three sons Clifford Ronald Lane (Carolyn) of Redmond, OR; William James Lane; Robert Leslie Lane (Tracey) of Pullman; his daughter-in-law Pam Lane of Pullman; a sister Kay Green of Meridian, ID; four grandsons Dustin, Zachary, Levi & Ryan; two granddaughters Tessa & Catherine and a great grandson Riley. Duane was preceded in death by a son John Michel Lane; sister Shirley Mae Goetz and his parents. The memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Community Congregational United Church of Christ, 525 NE Campus St., in Pullman. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA is caring for the family. Memorial donations are suggested to the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation; Friends of Hospice or a favorite charity.
