EDNA J. TAYLOR, 84, of Pullman, WA passed away on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at the Whitman Health and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax, WA. Edna was born July 25, 1927 in Colfax to Louie & Maude (Carter) Martin. She grew up in St. John, WA and attended school there, moving on to Colfax High School from which she graduated. Following school Edna worked for the phone company as an operator in Pullman. Her fondest memory as an operator was her conversation with Bing Crosby. She married Eugene Taylor on May 8, 1948 at the Hitching Post in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Together they made the family farm their home where Edna spent her life as a loving farm wife, mother, and homemaker. Her roles were many through the years including driving truck during many years of harvest. Edna and Gene were always together no matter where life's adventures took them. They especially enjoyed their fishing trips together. Gene preceded Edna in death on April 19, 2000. Edna was an independent person who always put others before herself. Over the last eleven years she enjoyed her Friday breakfasts at Tam's Place in Pullman with her son Bob as well as her trips to the Casino. She was blessed to have lived her life independently at home, until this last month when her health began to fail her. Edna is survived by her son Bob Taylor and his wife Tina of Pullman; two estranged daughters Nancy Wiltse and Joanne Tyler; her brother Harry Martin and his wife Eleanor of Fairfield, WA; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Edna was preceded in death by her parents, brother Walter Martin and sister Erma Fitch Sullivan. Viewing for family and friends will be held at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, WA on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. A private family graveside service will take place at the Colfax Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations to Whitman Health & Rehabilitation Center.
