Edward Allen
Schneidmiller
January 2, 1934 – April 18, 2026
St. John United Methodist Church
10:30 - 11:30 am (Pacific time)
Edward Allen Schneidmiller, beloved husband, father, Opa, and brother, passed away peacefully in his sleep during an afternoon nap on a beautiful sunny day in Browns Point, Washington. He was a man who lived fully — from the battlefields of Korea to the wheat fields of St. John — and left behind a legacy of hard work, adventure, and deep family love.
Ed was born on January 2, 1934, in Lancaster, Washington, to John Schneidmiller and Rachel Lautenschlager. He took great delight in telling people his birthday was "1-2-3-4" — a small joy that perfectly captured his playful spirit.
Ed answered the call of duty, serving as a Corporal in the United States Army Infantry. He was inducted in June 1953 and honorably discharged in May 1955. During his service, he spent one year and five months in Korea, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal — honors he carried with quiet pride.
After his military service, Ed built a distinguished career in the metal industry, where he specialized in glass-to-metal sealing. He retired in 1999 and returned to his roots, purchasing a home in St. John, Washington — the community he loved. In retirement, he found great joy in managing his family's wheat farm, reading, and sharing stories of his many adventures. Among his proudest moments was his role in traveling cross-country, in 1946, to retrieve nails used in the construction of the Grain Growers grain storage expansion — a story he told with the kind of pride only a man who truly lived it could.
On April 28, 1973, Ed married the love of his life, Burglind Wolff. Together they built a family and a life full of meaning. He is survived by his beloved wife, Burglind; his son Timothy Schneidmiller and daughter-in-law Sheena; his daughter Tamara Schneidmiller and son-in-law Maurice Searcy; and his three cherished grandchildren — Nico, Aurora, and James — who knew him as "Opa." He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Bob) and Dale Schneidmiller.
Ed was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence Schneidmiller.
Ed Schneidmiller was the oldest of four brothers, a Korean War veteran, a craftsman, a farmer, a storyteller, and above all — a family man. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Funeral Service for Ed will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 10:30 am at the St. John Methodist Church. He will be laid to rest in the St. John Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Corbeill Funeral Homes in Colfax, WA is caring for the family. On-line condolences may be made at www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com
