Eleanor Martha (Kleweno) Schmick was born November 12th 1920 at Dusty, Washington in an old farmhouse. Eleanor passed away November 26th in Tacoma, Washington. She was the daughter of Philip and Martha Kleweno. She received all her education at Colfax District Schools. She was employed at J. C. Penney in Lewiston, Idaho and later to at Style and Boutique Shop in Pullman, Washington. Music was a influential part of her life, she enjoyed singing and was a church pianist for many years. She was active in church and served in many departments including the Christian Education Department as Secretary/Treasurer. She was Chairman of Christian Women's Association of the Palouse Empire and belonged to the Aloha Club and Colfax Community Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, especially working with flowers. Most of all, she enjoyed being a homemaker for her family. Elmer and Eleanor Schmick were married November 1, 1942 and they farmed south of Colfax for 49 years. She is survived by her children, Sherrie and Robert Breda, Ron Schmick, Joe and Kim Schmick, 4 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, her daughter-in-law Judy Schmick (Ron's wife), her parents and two brothers. A memorial will be held at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Monday December 15th 2014 at 1:00 PM. The family suggests any gifts be donated to the Union Gospel Mission of Spokane or American Bible Society. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax has been entrusted with the arrangements.
